It seems difficult to write. Because my brain's inside is like a huge mob, all in a disarray and trying to come out(Hai! Hai!). Anyways...
Today in newspaper it came out, finally:-
The Supreme court on Thursday, Oct 19, held that the 'creamy layer ' should be excluded from the reservations for Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes in govt' jobs. (rest can be read in any national daily.)
However, Ram Vilas Paswan countered that creamy layer should not be excluded. He said that employees from SC/ST categories were treated badly and in these circumstances need for reservation is imperative.
The game is not over yet... What I fail to understand is that, do these politicians understand the harm they are causing to the nation by pusuing their vote-bank politics. I am a student preparing for my XII board (CBSE) and also IIT-JEE(absolutely no hope for me to get in there),
AIEEE and some other engineering entrance exams(these are mandatorily given by all students of PCM group). The real shocker comes after the results are declared and you are away for counselling and you realise, that the same batchmates of your school, who have scores very much less than you, still getting seats in coveted streams in premier institutes, throught quota. You know, he/she doesen't deserve it and you resent it. This is like a slap in the face by Indian education. Is it any saga of revenge that is being enacted?
I wonder, if creamy layer is excluded, what numbers of underprivileged stiudents can get through, when they can't avail basic and quality education till +2 level. You can't expect them to give opinion on Mandelbrot set, when their thoughts are more occupied by survival in this consumerist society. Of course there are exceptions, but all of them can't be exceptions. If a student really deserves a place in such institute, he/she can do it with merit. I know a few persons belonging to these categories compete in general category and come out with flying colours.
Regarding education, I feel that in rural landscape, people need practical and efficient indigenous approach to problems encountered day to day. I had read about a teenaged girl, down south who designed a cycling washing machine. Based on tumble-wash mechanism, its a neatly designed small box, enough to put your clothes in. The user cycles, burns calories and clothes get washed. Simple and hassle-free, electricity not needed.
Similarly an ageing man up in U.P. designed a cycle which can run both on land and water. No fuel required. He claims to have got this idea during the floods, when he urgently needed to gp somewhere.
Indian genius mind is not restricted to professionals graduating from premier institutes. There are countless genius minds waiting to be tapped right inside the rural village. They have the ability to solve their problems in the most energy efficient manner using an amalgamation of ancient Indian wisdom and sheer ingenuity. This is proved by numerous success stories that come out in magazines and journals. And yes, specialised training is a great boost.
So, here ends my babble. If you have read this, you are most most welcome to share your views . Your comments are highly anticipated.
